‘After collaborating through two consecutive years on a master’s degree at the Sandberg Instituut, Re:master Opera has solidified as a collective of makers. The core of our research is to develop a non-hierarchical, collective approach to the making of new experimental forms for music theatre and opera. Therefore, the structural elements of all of our productions are a reflection on horizontality; the politics of a community, and the post-artist-genius trope in relation to the rigid traditions of theatre-making. Our productions are experimental music-theatre forms, a dramaturgical development of scenes where music, text and movement come together. All the materials we use in our work are made by ourselves: we compose, we write, we choreograph, we perform. We have sometimes worked with digital and acoustic sounds, but we also have worked entirely acoustic.’
